About Detask
Detask exists because powerful books should not disappear in silence. We review, critique, and promote books with care so strong writing gets a real chance to travel, influence, and endure.
Our History
Detask was born from a simple but troubling observation. Over the past decade, our team has read more than ten thousand books from indie, debut, and established authors across different genres and regions. Again, and again, we encountered powerful stories, original ideas, and life changing knowledge that never reached the audience they deserved. These books were not lacking in quality, but in visibility. As millions of new titles are released every year, many exceptional books quietly disappear without ever being read.
This growing gap between good books and real readers made us pause and ask an important question. What value does a great book hold if it is never discovered, never read, and never allowed to influence minds or shape conversations. We realised that the publishing world had become crowded, noisy, and often unfair to authors without strong networks or marketing power. Too many writers were being left behind, not because their work lacked merit, but because the system made it difficult to stand out.
Detask was created to respond to this problem. We started as readers first, then critics, and eventually as advocates for authors. Our platform grew from a love for books and a belief that stories matter. Today, Detask exists to bridge the gap between writers and readers, ensuring that worthy books are not lost in the crowd but given a real chance to thrive.
Our Core Values
At the heart of Detask is a deep respect for authors and their work. We believe every book represents time, courage, creativity, and personal sacrifice. This belief guides how we review, critique, and promote books. We approach every manuscript with honesty, care, and professionalism, knowing that behind each book is a writer who trusted us with their story.
Integrity is one of our strongest values. We write reviews honestly, and we do not inflate ratings for convenience or profit. Our reviews are written by real readers who engage fully with each book. We value fairness and transparency, and we are committed to giving authors clear and constructive feedback, even when that feedback highlights areas for improvement.
We also believe strongly in access and inclusion. Good books should not be limited by geography, background, or budget. Whether an author is publishing their first book or their twentieth, we treat their work with equal seriousness. Our goal is to create a space where talent is recognised, voices are amplified, and meaningful stories are shared across borders.
Our Mission and Vision
Our mission at Detask is to ignite the next generation of writers and readers. We want to help create bestsellers, not by chance, but by connection. Where a book shows promise, we help authors refine it through thoughtful critique. Where a book is ready, we help it find the audience that will truly appreciate it. We aim to make sure that good books are not only written, but read, understood, and remembered.
We believe that knowledge shared through books has the power to improve lives and shape a better world. When stories cross borders, cultures learn from one another. When ideas travel freely, future generations grow stronger. At Detask, we see books as blueprints for progress, empathy, and imagination. Helping these books reach readers is not just our work, it is our responsibility.
Our vision for the next five decades is clear and ambitious. We aim to become the largest and most trusted book critique and promotion platform, bookshop, and publishing house in the world. We plan to push books into new markets and make them available across all seven continents. For indie and debut authors, this means global discovery. For established authors, it means exponential reach. We invite you to support us on this journey and grow with us as we help shape the next generation of bestsellers.
FAQ
Can I promote more than one of my books under a single package?
Yes. You may promote more than one book with us; however, each title must be uploaded and processed separately, regardless of the service level selected. This ensures that every book receives the appropriate attention and review structure.
Can I subscribe to your services if my book hasn’t been officially released?
At the moment, subscriptions are only available for officially released titles. That said, you are welcome to submit an unreleased manuscript to editorial@detaskreviews.com to request Advance Reader Copies (ARCs). Once your book is launched, you may proceed with any of our service packages.
What happens if my book receives a rating below 3 stars?
If your book is rated below 3 stars, we will notify you via email and provide detailed editorial feedback explaining the score. You may choose to improve the book and request a re-review at an additional cost. Once the revised version achieves a minimum 3-star rating, the review will be published. Alternatively, we can publish the original review with your explicit approval.
Do you use any AI tools when reviewing my book?
No. Detask operates a strict zero-tolerance policy toward AI-generated reviews. If we suspect the use of AI, the review is internally scrutinised and the reviewer is required to provide evidence that they read the book. Any reviewer found to have used AI tools is immediately removed from our platform. For verification, we rely on Turnitin, the UK-recognised standard for plagiarism and AI detection. Authors may request a detailed Turnitin report for reviews written by us by emailing editorial@detaskreviews.com.
What happens if I am not satisfied with my review?
If you are unhappy with your review, please email editorial@detaskreviews.com outlining your concerns and grounds for complaint. Your request will be reviewed internally, and we will respond with our findings and next steps.
Where will my reviews be published?
Your reviews are published on our SEO-optimised website, which reaches millions of readers, as well as on Amazon, Goodreads, and across our official social media channels to maximise visibility.
Can I request book cover design as a separate paid service?
Yes. Book cover design is available as a standalone paid service. To enquire or request a quote, please contact editorial@detaskreviews.com.
How can I request ARC reader services?
To request Advance Reader Copy (ARC) reader services, please email editorial@detaskreviews.com with your requirements. Our team will review your request and provide a tailored quote.
How many reviewers will read my book?
Each book is reviewed by between 2 and 10 reviewers, depending on the service level you select. This range allows us to balance depth, diversity of opinion, and turnaround time.
What service is included in the first month of free subscription?
The first month of free subscription includes a short-form editorial review, which is published on our social media platforms to introduce your book to our audience.
How can I become a reviewer with Detask?
We work with highly experienced reviewers, many of whom have contributed to established platforms such as The New York Times, Kirkus, and OnlineBookClub. Our recruitment process is rigorous to maintain quality. Interested applicants should email editorial@detaskreviews.com with a CV and cover letter.
What is your cancellation policy?
